HARARE – Gospel rap artist Mudiwa “Hood” Mutandwa has admitted that his close relationship with prominent prosperity gospel preacher Prophet Uebert Angel is affecting the progression of his music career in some church circles.
In an interview with the weekly Zimbabwe Standard newspaper Mutandwa said “I have failed to perform at some churches because people have connotations they attach to me but I also have a dream to have all churches unite.”
Explaining his relationship with Prophet Angel, Mutandwa declared: “What he believes in is what I believe in”. It is this link that has seen some churches and their followers labeling him under Prophet Angel and his Spirit Embassy church.
In January this year Prophet Angel donated a Mercedes Benz C200 Kompressor for Mutandwa, his ‘spiritual son’ in recognition of his impressive musical year that saw him bagging three awards and ministering the Word of God through song.
At the time Mutandwa said the gift came as a surprise and he showered praises on Angel.
“Well, this was a surprise gift. Papa (Angel) asked me how my Merc was performing and I told him it was fair. I didn’t know he wanted to upgrade me and the next thing he was handing over the keys to this Kompressor.
“I am so elated and this is simply God’s work, I now believe the saying that goes, ‘the more you give is the more you receive’ is true because this gift comes two weeks after I was involved in charity work,” said Mutandwa.
