THE Zimbabwe Union of Journalists ZUJ, held its national congress in Masvingo Monday with Forster Dongozi retaining the Secretary General position.
Evince Mugumbate, who also retained the treasurer post, was at pains to explain to the congress delegates why they failed to present an audited financial statement.
She was however rescued by some members including Fiona Magaya from the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions who was supervising the elections after she asked the congress to give the union time to prepare and email audited financial statement to delegates.
Michael Chideme who now works for the Harare City Council was elected the ZUJ president beating Perfect Hlongwani of ZIFM stereo.
Chideme was the acting ZUJ president following the suspension of Dumisani Sibanda last year.
Godfrey Mutimba, Brenna Matendere, Oliver Karuru of ZBC, ZiFM Stereo’s Perfect Hlongwani and Regis Chingawo were elected ZUJ committee members.
Sinikiwe Marodza, Bridget Mananavire, Nyasha Maravanyika, and Thabani Dube make-up the Gender Mainstreaming Committee of the Union.
